Dr. Tony Hernandez
He was awarded an M.Sc. in GIS at Leicester University and a Ph.D in Retail Geography at the Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. His doctoral research focused on the impact of GIS within major retail organisations. After his doctorate, he was employed as a Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University, working in the Locational Planning and Management Group within the Department of Retailing and Marketing. In addition to research, he taught courses to geography and retail management students at the undergraduate and post-graduate level. Dr. Hernandez has presented and published numerous articles and papers on location decision making and analysis. His current research interests include business GIS, retail geography & location planning research, location strategy, spatial analysis, data visualisation and decision support. Tony has undertaken research within a large number of major retail organisations operating in Europe and North
America, and has specialised in retail location decision making research. He is a member of the North American Research Taskforce of the
International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Co-Chair of the ICSC Canadian Retail Research Group.
